At the International Standards Summary and Commendation Conference recently hosted by China Industry Anticorrosion Technology Association (CIATA), the Chinese technical counterpart of ISO/TC156/SC1, China National Chemical Information Center (CNCIC) was awarded the "Significant Contribution Award" by the Chinese Expert Group and Secretariat of ISO/TC 156/SC1. The award aims to recognize CNCIC’s major contributions to the standardization of international corrosion control.
Since the beginning of 2018, CNCIC has been working with CIATA to lead the formulation of international standard ISO 23222 "Corrosion Control Engineering Life Cycle — Risk Assessment". After three years of hard work, the standard was approved by 164 member countries on November 3, 2020, and officially released to the world by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO). On behalf of the chemical industry, ChemChina led another milestone event in the field of corrosion control engineering life cycle.
Following the theoretical system of corrosion control engineering life cycle, the ISO 23222 standard has subverted the traditional thinking of passive anti-corrosion which is based on the idea of “one thing overcoming another”, and moves towards a new era of proactive anticorrosion that is implemented before, during and after the event, being holistic, systematic, coordinated, optimized, comprehensive and procedural. The standard makes up the industry gap in time, and is of far-reaching significance for the chemical industry to improve economic benefits, enhance industry safety, and promote high-quality green development.
